About Dr. Hardy
Dr. Veronica Hardy is a first-generation college grad and the first African American female Full Professor (tenured) within her prior academic department. She has navigated her own experiences of self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and being “the only one,” which have fueled her ambition to provide mentorship to students and fellow mental health and social justice professionals. Previously a Professor of Social Work, she decided to "pivot" to create space for social justice endeavors including promoting financial and mental wellness. She is currently a part-time faculty member within both social work and clinical mental health counseling programs, a licensed clinical social worker, a nationally certified counselor, an author, and a keynote speaker.
She has engaged in several projects in alignment with her interests including writing, with her publication, Let’s Talk About Finances, and providing mentorship services for mental health professionals. She served as the mentor for the development of the HART Social Work Career Inventory, has served on doctoral dissertation committees, and proudly supports her students’ endeavors as they flourish in their professional identities.
Dr. Hardy has fulfilled multiple roles including Vice Chair of the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board, United Way of Robeson County Board Member, Board of Copy Editors for the International Journal of Social Work Values and Ethics, and professional consultant to Doing it for the Kingdom, an anti-human trafficking nonprofit, as well as an accreditation consultant for social work educational programs. Overall, she has been proactive in serving her profession and community.
Dr. Hardy has publications including Let's Talk About Finances, A Letter to My Sisters: Reflecting on God’s Promises, The Process of Grief: The Underrated Form of Self-Care, Becoming Un-Tangled: Eight Simple Strategies for Cleaning Up Your Life, Mind, and Habits, and Becoming Un-Tangled: Pray with Intention. She hosts the podcast, There is Power in Your Story, is a featured article writer and YouTube content creator for The New Social Worker Magazine, as well as the creator of The Social Work Lounge, a Facebook group for social workers.
